Vilnius County came under the command of the Einsatzkommando 3/A.
The executive forces of SS, Gestapo, security police and SD members, specially prepared to “solve the Jews question”, together with the local Special squad participating, started the killing of Jews in Paneriai forest even before the ghetto was established. About a dozen thounsand of Vilnius Jews were killed.
