Julijona PAGOJIENĖ (1911–1988) Julius PAGOJUS (1894–1953) From the memoirs of Jehoshua Shochot: In 1942 I lived with the Pagojus family for about five months (June-October). Julius Pagojus was the brother of my nanny Domicėlė who took care of me during all the years of the war. The Pagojus family were peasants with a little land and a modest farm in Vilkaičiai village near Telšiai. There were two children in the family: daughter Joana (Janė) who was some two years younger than myself and a little boy Julius who was being breastfed. When the parents would work in the fields, they would often take us, the children. While they were working I and Joana would look after brother Julius. Sometimes we would stay on our own in the house with Julius. As their farm was near the forest we would often go altogether to pick berries. During my stay with the Pagojus family my mother was quite close – in the family of Gedvilas and would sometimes visit me. In the autumn of 1942 my mother took me to the Gedvilas family and we lived there together for a month and a half. My brother Chaim and Rachel Taic also stayed with the Pagojus family for sometime.
