KAZIMIERAS BAGDONAS

Kazimieras Bagdonas lived in Plungė, Telšiai county. He owned a hairdresser's shop on Vytautas Avenue and worked there with his wife. During the war, for six months, he hid and saved two little Jewish girls in his house. One of them was Dora Zivaitė. The Bagdonas had a daughter and a son. The hidden girls were usually locked in the house, with a lock hanging on the door from the outside, as if no one was home.

The Bagdonas' daughter Jandira Mačernienė remembers: "I only remember how they used to keep us quiet when we were playing, so that nobody would hear. I remember all three of us having scabies and my mother used to put medicine on us in the evenings by the hot stove.”
