During the World War II (1942–1944) Petras Baublys was the head of “Lopšelis” orphanage in Kaunas. Thanks to the humanism and dedication of this doctor, as well as his colleagues, “Lopšelis” became a shelter and a place of survival both for orphans and for the severely persecuted Jewish children, mostly from Kaunas Ghetto
