Pranas Simokaitis, a farmer, pious man and a member of the parish choir, lived in Daukantiškiai village, Gelgaudiškis subdistrict, Šakiai district. According to the testimony of Bronė Eugenija Lilienė, neighbour of Bronius Simokaitis and daughter of Jonas Janulaitis, who also hid Jews and suffered from this, doctor Vytautas Žakovičius brought Jews and distributed them among reliable people and farmers of adjacent villages including Jonas Janulaitis, Pranas Simokaitis, Jonas Petrauskas, and Bronius Jocevičius. When someone informed against them, all the Jews hiding in the nearby villages were arrested and taken away as were the people who had hidden them.
