ANTANAS VAITKEVIČIUS
Before the German occupation began, Antanina and Antanas Vaitkevičius worked in the bakery of the Jewish man Isaak Kapulski, in Kaunas. During the war, they took in and for a while raised Isaak Kapulski' daughter Chaya, who was a few years old at the time. Later, the girl was moved to Vaitkevičius' acquaintances in a safer hiding place away from the city center. Antanina and Antanas Vaitkevičius also helped Isaak Kapulski to hide. Both father and daughter survived until the end of the war and later moved to Israel.
In 2002, Antanina and Antanas Vaitkevičius were awarded the Life Saviour’s Cross.
