The German administration of Vilnius City dissolves the collegial authority of the ghetto – the Jewish Council. Former police commander Jacob Gens becomes the only head of the ghetto (ghetto representative and police commander). Anatol Fried is appointed Gens’ deputy for administration affairs, while Salek Desler is appointed deputy for police affairs.
