1 December 1941 – The Report of Karl Jäger

The Report of Karl Jäger dated 1 December 1941 and addressed to the Reich Security Main Office on the mass killings carried out by the Einsatzkommando 3 in Lithuania is one of the most important Holocaust history documents in Europe. This document contains precise details of the killings of the Jews carried out in one specific region within the period of almost half a year including exact dates, places of the massacres and numbers of victims. It reveals the monstrous scope of the massacre of the Jews in Lithuania in the second half of 1941. The major spearhead and executor of the massacre was the Rollkomando led by SS-Obersturmführer Joachim Hamann under Karl Jäger.
