Beginning of the liquidation of the Kaunas Ghetto.
July 8, about 1,200 prisoners of the Kaunas Ghetto were barged away. July 9, about 900 people were taken away. A total of about 6,000–7,000 people were transported from the Kaunas Ghetto to concentration camps. Prisoners that remained in the ghetto hid in various hideouts.
