From Tatjana Klibanskaja’s testimony dated 14 May 1945:
I, the undersigned Tatjana Klibanskaja, hereby confirm that during the German occupation and callous extermination of the Jews, I found warm and kind refuge in Marija Rusteikaitė’s Vaiguva manor in Šiauliai County. Marija hosted my three sons – Samuil, 7, Avraham, 6, and Asaf, 6, – in her manor free of charge for an entire year.
She looked after them as she would look after her own relatives giving them food, clothes and education. /.../
The children did not want to part with Marija Rusteikaitė, who treated them like real mother. Before leaving we were given food, socks for children and necessary clothing, as all our belongings had been lost in the ghetto.
/.../ I am aware that about fifteen more Jews were hiding in the same asylum – all of them were poor people with not means of subsistence. /.../
