A month later, the director accepted me into the Benedictine monastery, Šv. Ignoto St 5, and introduced me to a Benedictine sister (Marija Mikulska). In my hearing, he asked her: “Do you agree to accept Jews in this building?” She replied: “If you, Mr. Director, are ready to swing on a tree, then I am ready too...” (To intimidate people, the Germans had hanged a Pole in the square by the Cathedral down town for hiding Jews.)
